Aloha Rotarians & Friends,
Today was a special day at our meeting as President Wendell Inducted the Officers of our Mililani HS Interact Club. After the inductions each shared a little bit about themselves. Wendell spoke about "What is Rotary?", Vanessa Humphreys, their advisor, shared her plans for the upcoming school year, and James gave a summary of scholarship programs and what they can do during the school year (since several are seniors) to prepare. Several Rotarians also shared their thoughts and ideas about the program and Dexter spoke of Global Scholars. It was very motivating for all of us. They also received this year's Rotary pin.
Linda Conboy received the "Quiet Rotation " or SPIRIT Award for this past year from Past President June.
UPCOMING EVENTS: July 29 - Sunday - Paint & Stripe parking lot at Mililani Library August 1 hand out School Supplies at KIPAPA school from 4 - 6 pm August Guest Speakers will include 3 Financial Planners to inform us of options for managing our money in our 501 (c) 3. One week will be a visit from our new DG, Winn Shoneman.
August is MEMBERSHIP Month. A motion was made, seconded and passed to spend our District Grant Funds (and our matching funds) on $700 for IHS Christmas the the rest to take the teachers of Mililani Elementary schools shopping for supplies that they might need, not covered by the school supply drive.
